【日訳書より内容紹介】『スター・ウォーズ エピソード1/ファントム・メナス』（Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace）は、1999年に公開されたアメリカのSF映画。 前作から16年振りに製作された、『スター・ウォーズ』の4番目に発表された映画で、シリーズのストーリー上の序章となる。ジョージ・ルーカスにとっては『スター・ウォーズ エピソード4/新たなる希望』で一度監督業から撤退して以来22年ぶりの監督作でもある。 クワイ＝ガン・ジンの視点でアナキン・スカイウォーカーの少年時代を描くエピソードで、悪役としてダース・シディアスやその弟子のダース・モールが登場する。 旧三部作をきっかけに、全世界の映画館が「ドルビーステレオシステム」を導入した。その関係で、本作がドルビーデジタルサラウンドEXの世界初の映画となった。 2012年2月に3D版が公開された。厳密には全て3D変換されたわけではなく、一部は2Dのままである。
